1. An event production system, comprising:
an audience display system comprising one or more video panels positioned and sized to form a viewable area substantially the size of a curtain window of a stage from which the audience display screen is visible, and positioned in relation to the stage to substantially fill the curtain window of the stage as viewed from a performance area of the stage;
one or more video cameras oriented to capture a performance on the stage;
a performance server in data communication with the audience display screen and with the one or more video cameras, wherein the performance server comprises memory storing computer readable instructions that, when executed by a processor of the performance server, configure the performance server to:
receive one or more video streams originating from the one or more video cameras;
determine a plurality of user accounts successfully logged in to the performance server and having authorization to watch the performance;
stream the performance to each of the plurality of user accounts by, for each user account logged in to the performance server, transmitting one of the video streams to a user device associated with the user account; and
output for display on the one or more video panels a plurality of visual surrogates,
each visual surrogate corresponding to of one of the user accounts; and
a performance control device configured to perform:
presenting a user interface on a secondary display screen associated with the performance control device and through which the performance control device is configured to receive input selecting a surrogate displayed on the audience display screen; and
sending the user input to the performance server to trigger an enhanced interaction between a performer of the performance and a particular user device associated with the selected surrogate.
