1. An electric drive system, comprising:
an inverter having a switch and a current sensor; and
a controller configured to reduce power output of the inverter while a temperature of the current sensor, predicted from a thermal equation given a sensed temperature of the switch, a sensed current output from the inverter, and values of parameters of the thermal equation obtained from a thermal model of the current sensor, being greater than a threshold.
