1. An analytic instrument comprising:
a pulsed optical source configured to output a sequence of optical pulses for analysis of a sample; and
clock-generation circuitry configured to produce a first clock signal derived from the sequence of optical pulses and a second clock signal that is not derived from the sequence of optical pulses and provide the first clock signal and second clock signal to validate data acquisitions for analysis of the sample.
