10. A method, comprising:
positioning a downhole acquisition tool comprising a formation testing module within a wellbore penetrating a geological formation;
receiving a contaminated formation fluid from the geological formation into a first flow line of the formation testing module, wherein the contaminated formation fluid comprises a formation fluid and a contamination, and wherein the contamination has a greater density than the formation fluid;
separating the contaminated formation fluid into a first portion and a second portion;
directing the first portion of the contaminated formation fluid into a second flow line fluidly coupled to the first flow line, wherein at least a portion of the first portion of the contaminated formation fluid comprises the contamination, wherein the first portion of the contaminated formation fluid is directed in a first direction, and wherein the first direction is downward;
directing the second portion of the contaminated formation fluid into a third flow line fluidly coupled to the first flow line and the second flow line; wherein at least a portion of the second portion of the contaminated formation fluid comprises the formation fluid, and wherein the second portion of the contaminated formation fluid is directed in a second direction; and
controlling a flow of the first portion of the contaminated formation fluid within the second flow line, the second portion of the contaminated formation fluid within one of the third flow line, or both using a first pump.
