1. A reaction mixture for nucleic acid sequencing, comprising:
a first nucleotide analog and a second nucleotide analog, wherein the first nucleotide analog comprises a first fluorescent label that produces a first signal in response to excitation illumination, and the second nucleotide analog comprises a second fluorescent label that produces a second signal in response to excitation illumination, wherein the first signal and second signal comprise peaks at the same wavelengths, and wherein the first signal and second signal have distinct signal intensities,
a template nucleic acid, and
a polymerase enzyme, wherein the polymerase and template comprise a polymerase/template complex.
