1. An external electrical stimulator comprising:
a stimulation generator configured to generate electrical stimulation pulses;
a battery electrically coupled to the stimulation generator;
a housing enclosing the stimulation generator and the battery;
a lead coupler configured to electrically connect a lead extension to the stimulation generator; and
a user interface at the housing, the user interface configured, when actuated, to initiate wireless communication with an external programming device,
wherein actuation of the user interface, when the stimulation generator is not in an operational power mode, causes the external electrical stimulator to be capable of wireless communication with the external programming device, and
wherein, when the stimulation generator is in the operational power mode, the external electrical stimulator is configured to receive stimulation therapy instructions, for the stimulation generator, from the external programming device to program the external electrical stimulator.
