1. A power controller circuit comprising:
a bi-directional switching assembly comprising a first controllable switch;
a sensor coupled to the bi-directional switching assembly; and
a controller configured to:
control the first controllable switch into a conduction mode during a positive portion of an energy cycle of an AC input voltage to cause an energy to flow through the bi-directional switching assembly;
monitor, via the sensor, an energy parameter of the energy flowing through the bi-directional switching assembly during the positive portion in response to controlling the first controllable switch into the conduction mode; and
control the first controllable switch into a non-conduction mode based on an accumulation amount of the monitored energy parameter during the positive portion;
wherein the flow of the energy through the bi-directional switching assembly is halted during a remainder of the positive portion of the energy cycle subsequent to controlling the first controllable switch into the non-conduction mode.
