1. An apparatus for determining a depth motion of an object, comprising:
a light emitter configured to emit one or more light pulses;
a photodetector configured to detect reflections of the one or more light pulses and generate a reflected light signal based on the detected reflections;
a plurality of charge storage elements configured to accumulate charge based on the reflected light signal;
a controller; and
a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the controller, cause the apparatus to:
measure a first plurality of accumulated charges associated with a first light pulse of the one or more light pulses; and
determine a first phase-shift of the reflected light signal based on the first plurality of accumulated charges associated with the first light pulse and without measuring accumulated charges associated with any other light pulses emitted by the light emitter, wherein the first phase-shift indicates a motion of a first object toward or away from the photodetector, the first object reflecting the first light pulse.
