1. A biometric identification system, comprising:
at least one non-transitory storage medium that stores instructions; and
at least one processor that executes the instructions to:
receive first information regarding a person from a first input component of an electronic device, the first information being biographical information regarding the person;
receive second information from a second input component of the electronic device that reads a physical item associated with the person;
determine the person with which to associate stored biometric data at least by using at least one of the first information or the second information to access data in at least one external data source;
verify the person using the at least one external data source and the at least one of the first information or the second information;
receive biometric data for the person electronically collected using a biometric capture device of the electronic device; and
upon confirming a correspondence between the biometric data and the stored biometric data, allow the person to enter an area.
