1. A method for controlling content rendering by a multi-view, directionally dependent display, the method comprising:
defining a first display as a first pixel of a pixelated array of the multi-view display, the first display being associated with a first viewing angle relative to a first viewing axis, the pixelated array comprising a plurality of pixels periodically spaced apart along a display axis;
defining a second display as a second pixel of the pixelated array, the second display being disposed at a location spaced apart from the first pixel along a second viewing axis and being associated with a second viewing angle relative to the first viewing axis;
controlling chromatic properties of the first pixel by applying a first filter based on a rendering of first content to be displayed;
controlling chromatic properties of the second pixel by applying a second filter based on a rendering of second content to be displayed, wherein the first viewing angle belongs to a first range of viewing angles of an optical multiplexer disposed on the pixelated array, wherein the optical multiplexer is configured to direct light from the first display and the second display to respectively produce two directional displays, and wherein the second viewing angle belongs to a second range of viewing angles of the optical multiplexer;
controlling the first filter based on a weighting of the rendering of the first content to be displayed and the rendering of the second content to be displayed; and
controlling points of incidence of light from the first and second pixels relative to the optical multiplexer, thereby changing a directionality of the multi-view display.
