1. A process for re-utilization of carbon and chlorine in the preparation of carbon tetrachloride comprising reacting a) chlorine, b) chloroform, methyl chloride, and/or methylene chloride, and c) a carbon/second chlorine source selected from i) at least one of methane, ethane, ethene, propane, propene, dichloroethane, and dichloropropane and ii) a range of multichlorinated C3 hydrocarbons, said range being obtained by recycling waste products from industrial production of 1,1,1,2,3-pentachloropropane and/or 1,1,3,3-tetrachloropropene.
