1. A base station of a wireless system, the base station operative to:
coordinate timing of transmissions between the base station and a plurality of wireless devices of a cell area of each of a plurality of cells during activation of a corresponding directional wireless link based on an indication of which of the plurality of cells are active as a function of time, thereby supporting a wireless communication link between the base station and the plurality of wireless devices of the cell area corresponding with the active directional wireless link, wherein a wireless radiator operates to generate a plurality of selectable directional wireless communication links capable of providing connectivity across the plurality of cells;
generate a schedule of the coordinated timing of the of transmissions between the base station and the plurality of wireless devices of each cell area during activation of the corresponding directional wireless link; and
maintain a list of wireless devices within each of the cell areas, and coordinate schedule generation based on the maintained list; and
provide a cell map to each of the plurality of wireless devices, wherein the cell map provides the indication of which of the plurality of cells are active as the function of time, thereby supporting a wireless communication link between the base station and the plurality of wireless devices of the cell area corresponding with the active directional wireless link;
wherein the plurality of wireless devices is configured to control timing of transmission and reception of wireless communication with the base station based on the cell map and the schedule generated by the base station.
