1. A surgical vertebral disc removal device comprising:
a handle;
an outer shaft having an opening at its distal portion;
a cutter disposed near the opening and adapted to cut the vertebral disc;
an irrigation channel running along the outer shaft and having a distal end adapted to provide irrigation fluid to the opening;
a collection chamber attached to the handle and in fluid communication with the outer shaft to receive the cut disc through the outer shaft from the opening; and
a tip disposed distally of the outer shaft and defining the opening, the tip including a curette in the form of a lip radially extending outward around an entire circumference of the tip.
