1. An addressable device, comprising:
a hazard detector base comprising:
a first Near-Field Communication (NFC) transponder for receiving a communication including an address for the addressable device, the address transmitted from a wireless device via NFC; and
a memory for storing the address; and
a hazard detector head comprising:
a sensor for detecting a hazard or an intrusion;
a second NFC transponder configured to read the address stored in the memory of the hazard detector base, wherein the hazard detector head is configured to report the address to a fire panel; and
means for attaching the hazard detector head to the hazard detector base such that the first NFC transponder and the second NFC transponder are sufficiently close to enable communication therebetween.
