1. A microscopy system for imaging of samples, comprising:
an exposed transparent imaging window, the transparent imaging window providing a surface onto or over which a sample may be disposed in order to image the sample; and
a housing that at least partially encloses the microscopy system, wherein the housing comprises:
an upper working surface,
an imaging window support base that is recessed below the upper working surface, and
an imaging window support disposed on the imaging window support base,
wherein the transparent imaging window is disposed on the imaging window support,
wherein the imaging window is recessed below the upper working surface.
