1. A system for passively regulating a temperature of an interior area within a structure, the system comprising:
a membrane assembly configured to cover a portion of a structure, the membrane assembly having an interior side configured to face the interior area and an exterior side, the membrane assembly comprising,
an architectural membrane that is partially coated with a porous matrix coating, the porous matrix coating comprising a paint that is disposed on a surface of the architectural membrane that defines at least a portion of an outer-most exterior surface of the membrane assembly;
wherein the porous matrix coating is configured to absorb and distribute water from the interior side to the exterior side of the membrane assembly to thereby enhance evaporation of water therefrom.
