1. A flexible pipe body comprising:
an inner sheath layer configured for retaining fluid within a bore of a flexible pipe body;
an outer sheath layer provided radially outwardly of the inner sheath layer;
a pressure armour layer and first and second tensile armour layers, each between the inner sheath layer and the outer sheath layer;
an abrasion layer provided radially outwardly of the outer sheath layer configured for protecting the outer sheath layer against abrasion damage; and
a reinforcement layer provided between the outer sheath layer and the abrasion layer, configured for protecting the outer sheath layer against impact damage;
wherein the reinforcement layer comprises intertwined filaments selected from the group consisting of woven, braided, knitted and otherwise intertwined; and
wherein the filaments are embedded in a matrix material.
