1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
authenticating a client device at a first access point of a network;
selectively determining, among remaining access points in the network, second access points at which respective precursor keys are to be computed, based on at least one of:
respective path losses from the first access point to the second access points; and
respective historical frequencies at which the client device associates at the respective remaining access points;
for the second access points, computing the respective precursor keys;
transmitting the respective precursor keys to the second access points to be cached at the second access points;
receiving a request from the client device to reassociate to a second access point of the second access points; and
authenticating the client device at the second access point based on a precursor key corresponding to the second access point, thereby permitting encrypted data transmission between the client device and the second access point.
