1. An anatomical model for surgical training, comprising: an anatomical portion, including:
a first layer having an inner surface and an outer surface interconnected by a top side and a bottom side and a left side and a right side; the first layer having a thickness defined between the inner surface and the outer surface; the first layer being configured to simulate at least one anatomical structure;
a second layer including at least one simulated anatomical structure overlaying the first layer;
a third layer having an inner surface and an outer surface; the third layer overlaying the first layer such that the outer surface of the third layer faces the inner surface of the first layer; the outer surface of the third layer being connected to select portions of a perimeter of the first layer, and the second layer being connected to select portions of the inner surface of the third layer inside the perimeter of the first layer;
a frame having a first end interconnected to a second end by a central portion; at least part of the frame being embedded within the first layer with the first end and the second end of the frame extending out from the first layer; and
a support; the first end and the second end of the frame being removably connectable to the support to hold the anatomical portion in an upright position with respect to a supporting surface,
wherein the connections of the outer surface of the third layer to select portions of the perimeter of the first layer and the connections of the second layer to select portions of the inner surface of the third layer inside the perimeter of the first layer allow for tenting of each of the first, second and third layers relative to one another.
