1. An oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalyst comprising:
a metal catalyst; and
a protonated dimeric ionic liquid contacting the metal catalyst, the protonated dimeric ionic liquid comprising 9′9′-(butane-1,4-diyl)bis(3,4,6,7,8,9-hexahydro-2H-pyrimido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-1-ium) 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,4-nonafluorobutane-1-sulfonate.
