1. A system comprising an array of receiver devices arranged to operate as a phased array, wherein said receiver devices are in a fixed mutual relationship within a zone and each receiver device comprises a photovoltaic element, said system being arranged to receive a signal from within the zone at a plurality of said receiver devices to generate a plurality of received signals and to process said received signals using at least one phase difference therebetween, said system further comprising a unit located within the zone arranged to direct at least one beam of light to said photovoltaic elements, thereby providing power to said receiver devices.
