1. A method comprising:
performing local tracking of a target across frames of a video using sampling points of the target;
computing a quantity of a total number of the sampling points of the target that are within a boundary area;
determining that the quantity of the total number of the sampling points of the target corresponds to less than half of the total number of the sampling points;
determining that the target is outside the boundary area with respect to the local tracking in response to determining that the quantity of the total number of the sampling points of the target that are within the boundary area corresponds to less than half of the total number of the sampling points; and
initiating global tracking for tracking movement of the target in the video in response to determining that the target is outside the boundary area with respect to the local tracking.
