1. A system for producing a thermoformed dental appliance, comprising,
(a) a male or female mold or model;
(b) a thermoformable sheet material;
(c) a detached releasable separator film having an X and Y dimension and comprising (i) an average thickness of from about 37 to 75 microns; (ii) a melting point which is lower than a thermoforming temperature of the thermoformable sheet material; (iii) a trouser tear strength of greater than 20 N/mm; and (iv) a peel force adhesion level after thermoforming of less than about 100 g/cm, wherein the detached releasable separator film includes a) two or more radial slits formed along a perimeter of the releasable separator film, orb) two or more triangular cutouts formed along the perimeter of the releasable separator film, c) multiple radial creases, or d) a conical or a hemispheric shape, wherein a Z axis of the conical shape or hemispheric shape has a height of greater than about 10 mm; and
(d) a thermoforming device.
