1. A method of filtering solid and/or semi-solid particulate matter from a medicinal vapor, comprising:
providing a filter having a filter structure that is initially flat and flexible; providing a vaporizer that is a smoking device suitable for burning a plant or plant-derived material, wherein burning the plant or plant-derived material produces a medicinal vapor comprising one or more volatilized medicinal compounds and solid and/or semi-solid particulate matter selected from soot, embers, ash, and/or tar; removably
applying the filter over a distal opening and mouth-contacting surface of a mouthpiece of the vaporizer so that the filter covers the distal opening and is wrapped around the mouth-contacting surface of the mouthpiece; burning the plant or plant-derived material and forming
a medicinal vapor in the vaporizer, the medicinal vapor comprising one or more volatilized medicinal compounds and solid and/or semi-solid particulate matter selected from soot, embers, ash, and/or tar; passing
the medicinal vapor through the mouthpiece and through the filter; and
the filter removing at least a portion of the solid and/or semi-solid particulate matter from the medicinal vapor while permitting a majority of the one or more volatilized medicinal compounds in the medicinal vapor to pass through the filter.
