1. A method, comprising:
rotating an inner shaft via operation of an electric motor;
wherein the inner shaft is coaxial with and extends through a rotor shaft; and
wherein the rotor shaft is directly coupled to a rotor which at least partially circumferentially encloses the rotor shaft;
delivering a coolant from a gearbox sump to a shaft sump via splashing of the coolant during rotation of the inner shaft;
delivering the coolant from the shaft sump to an internal volume of the electric motor via rotation of one or more surface features affixed to the inner shaft; and
delivering the coolant from the internal volume of the electric motor to the gearbox sump via gravity drainage.
