5. A method of tracking provenance of a physical asset, the method comprising:
generating a digital asset provenance tag stored in a block on a blockchain, by adding to the block a signing key signature, and wherein the digital asset provenance tag comprises:
an asset tag serial number field containing a cryptographic hash corresponding to the physical asset,
an asset identifying indicium containing a measurement of a nano-scale pattern uniquely identifying the physical asset,
an asset ownership history information field containing a record of digital signatures for each owner of the physical asset,
an asset authentication information field containing a digitally signed certificate signed by a trust anchor of the physical asset,
wherein the trust anchor is verified source of the physical asset, and
an asset subcomponent information field containing asset tag serials numbers of subcomponent physical assets associated with the physical asset,
receiving the measurement of the nano-scale pattern, wherein the nano-scale pattern uniquely identifies the physical asset, and wherein the measurement comprises data reflected by the nano-scale pattern, and wherein the data reflected by the nano-scale pattern comprises one of:
(i) a nano-spiral configured to absorb infrared light and reflect visible light, the visible light comprising a second harmonic response, or (ii) a transparent tag comprising incorporated air bubbles or included imperfections;
recording the measurement to the asset identifying indicium of the digital asset provenance tag;
validating the digital asset provenance tag on the blockchain, a validation of the digital asset provenance tag comprising:
determining a digital signature in the asset authentication information field corresponds to a digital signature on at least one digital certificate and/or at least one smart contract, the at least one digital certificate and/or the at least one smart contract associating the digital signature in the asset authentication information field with the trust anchor
in response to validating the digital asset provenance tag, recording a transaction on the blockchain, the transaction comprising recording transfer of the physical asset to a new owner, wherein recording the transaction comprises updating asset ownership history information by appending the digital signature of the new owner to indicate the new owner of the physical asset.
