1. A system, comprising:
at least one data processor; and
at least one memory storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one data processor, result in operations comprising:
in response to a shutdown of a process, waking at least one processing thread of a plurality of processing threads allocated to a database system;
allocating a list of memory mappings to the plurality of processing threads, the list of memory mappings comprising a subset of memory segments allocated to the process, the subset assigned to a processing thread of the plurality of processing threads; and
freeing, by the processing thread, physical memory assigned to the processing thread by the memory mappings.
