1. An optical proximity sensor comprising: a light detecting unit and a light emitting unit, wherein the light detecting unit comprises a light detecting element installed on a substrate, a first transparent unit that covers the light detecting element, and a light-shielding unit that covers the first transparent unit, the light emitting unit comprises a light emitting element installed on the substrate, a second transparent unit that covers the light emitting element, and the light-shielding unit that covers the second transparent unit, the light detecting element and the light emitting element detect and emit signal light respectively through a first window and a second window, which are provided in the light-shielding unit and on an upper side of a package of the optical proximity sensor,
the light-shielding unit having a first side surface and a second side surface of the package, the second side surface facing the first side surface, wherein
one of the first transparent unit and the second transparent unit is exposed on the first side surface,
the other one of the first transparent unit and the second transparent unit is covered by the light-shielding unit on the first side surface,
both of the first transparent unit and the second transparent unit are covered by the light-shielding unit on the second side surface, and
the light detecting element and the light emitting element are installed on the substrate so that a straight line connecting the light detecting element and the light emitting element is positioned nearer to the first side surface than to the second side surface.
