1. A brake control system having first and second brake control units that control braking of first and second bogies, respectively, of a railcar upon application of pilot pressures to relay valves by brake control modules of the first and second brake control units, the brake control system comprising:
a bypass conduit configured to connect the brake control modules of the first and second brake control units; and
a fail-safe valve configured to move between an open position and a closed second position,
the fail-safe valve configured to prevent a flow of the pressurized air between the first brake control unit and the second brake control unit via the bypass conduit while the fail-safe valve is in the closed position,
the fail-safe vale configured to allow the flow of the pressurized air between the first brake control unit and the second brake control unit via the bypass conduit while the fail-safe valve is in the open position,
the fail-safe valve configured to provide the pilot pressure to the relay valve of the first brake control unit upon a failure of the first brake control unit and to provide the pilot pressure to the relay valve of the second brake control unit in response to a failure of the second brake control unit.
