1. A cleaning apparatus comprising:
a scrubbing member; and
a strain sensor configured to interface with the scrubbing member,
wherein the strain sensor is further configured to measure a resistance encountered by the scrubbing member as the scrubbing member moves along a surface being cleaned,
wherein the strain sensor is further configured to measure a level of tension for moving the scrubbing member laterally along a surface being cleaned,
wherein the level of tension corresponds to a level of effort,
wherein the strain sensor is configured to generate a strain signal indicative of the resistance and the level of effort, and
wherein a dynamic coefficient of friction is determined from the strain signal.
