1. A method of estimating parameters associated with tissue grasped between jaw members of a surgical device, the method comprising:
providing a test signal to the tissue;
determining a first temperature change at the tissue at a first time;
determining a second temperature change at the tissue at a second first time later than the first time;
calculating a mass of the tissue based on the first temperature change; and
estimating a heat transfer coefficient based on the first temperature change, the second temperature change, and the mass.
