1. An Autonomous Vehicle (AV) system, comprising:
a tracking subsystem configured to detect and track relative positioning of other vehicles that are behind or lateral to an AV configured to comply with a safety driving model, and to check and store safety driving model compliance statuses of the other vehicles; and
a risk reduction subsystem configured to:
determine whether the tracking subsystem has stored therein a safety driving model compliance status of another vehicle that is behind or lateral to the AV; and
if the tracking subsystem does not have stored therein the safety driving model compliance status of the other vehicle, prompt a control system of the AV to administer a safety driving model compliance test to the other vehicle by causing the AV to perform an AV compliance test action, determining the safety driving model compliance status of the other vehicle based on a reaction by the other vehicle to the AV compliance test action, and storing in the tracking subsystem the determined safety driving model compliance status of the other vehicle.
