1. An algae-derived foam composition for use in the production of an article of manufacture, the algae-derived foam composition comprising from about 10% to about 25% by weight of dried algae biomass that includes protein and about 75% to about 90% thermoplastic foam material by weight,
wherein the thermoplastic foam material includes a thermoplastic resin comprising an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate monomer content from about 25% to 50% by weight of the copolymer;
wherein an average particle size of the dried algae biomass is up to 100 microns, and
wherein the foam composition defines a density from about 1 to 400 kg/m3.
