1. An organic light emitting device (OLED) comprising:
an anode;
a cathode; and
an organic emissive layer, disposed between the anode and the cathode, comprising:
a first host compound; and
a first phosphorescent emitter;
wherein the first host compound has a formula:
wherein R1 to R4 each independently represents a mono substitution to a maximum possible number of substitutions, or no substitutions;
wherein R5 represents a mono substitution to a maximum possible number of substitutions;
wherein Z1 to Z5 are carbon or nitrogen, and at least one of Z1 to Z5 is nitrogen;
wherein L is a direct bond or an organic linker;
wherein each of R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, deuterium, halide, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, amino, silyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroalkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, heteroaryl, acyl, carbonyl, carboxylic acids, ester, nitrile, isonitrile, sulfanyl, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, phosphino, and combinations thereof;
wherein at least one R5 is aryl;
wherein any adjacent substituents are optionally joined or fused into a ring;
wherein the first host compound is the only non-emitting compound in the organic emissive layer; and
R4 comprises a moiety selected from the group consisting of terphenyl, triphenylene, tetraphenylene, naphthalene, anthracene, phenalene, fluorene, pyrene, chrysene, perylene, azulene, aryl-substituted dibenzothiophene, dibenzothiophene-substituted aryl, aryl-substituted dibenzofuran, dibenzofuran-substituted aryl, and dibenzoselenophene.
