1. A method to assign a routing domain identifier in a logical network environment that includes one or more logical distributed routers and one or more logical switches, the method comprising:
identifying, by a manager from among the one or more logical distributed routers, a particular logical distributed router that is connected with the one or more logical switches in a routing domain of the particular logical distributed router, wherein the one or more logical switches provide layer-2 switching services and the one or more logical routers provide layer-3 routing services separate from a virtual tunnel endpoint (VTEP) to encapsulate and decapsulate packets with a tunnel header, and wherein the particular logical distributed router and each of the one or more logical switches are distributed on multiple hosts in the logical network environment; and
assigning, by the manager, each of the one or more logical switches with the routing domain identifier which is associated with the routing domain of the particular logical distributed router,
wherein the routing domain identifier uniquely identifies the particular logical distributed router in the routing domain,
wherein a host amongst the multiple hosts, on which the particular logical distributed router is instantiated, sends a report message labeled with the routing domain identifier to the manager, and
wherein the report message provides control information.
