1. An image forming apparatus comprising:
an apparatus main assembly;
an image bearing unit including an image bearing member;
a developing unit including (i) a developer carrying member for developing a latent image formed on the image bearing member, (ii) a force receiving portion, and (iii) a memory unit configured to store information and including a first electrode, wherein the developer carrying member is rotatable around a rotational axis;
a second electrode configured to contact and press the first electrode, wherein, in a contact position where the second electrode contacts the first electrode, the second electrode is disposed in a lower side of the first electrode with respect to a gravity direction; and
a pressing member configured to contact and press the force receiving portion such that the developer carrying member is pressed against the image bearing member,
wherein the first electrode and the force receiving portion are disposed such that a position of the first electrode and a position of the force receiving portion at least partially overlap with respect to a direction of the rotational axis, and
wherein the first electrode is located at a lower side of the rotational axis with respect to the gravity direction.
