generating, by one or more processors, a first route between a current location of a vehicle and a destination, the first route including a plurality of route portions;
for a first route portion of the plurality of route portions, determining, by the one or more processors, a first activity suggestion for the first route portion, the first activity suggestion including an activity that a passenger can engage in while the vehicle is operated in an autonomous driving mode;
providing for display, by the one or more processors, the first route and the first activity suggestion:
receiving, by the one or more processors, input indicating a passenger of the vehicle has selected the first route; and
in response to receiving the input, controlling, by the one or more processors, the vehicle in the autonomous driving mode using the first route, wherein the determining the first activity suggestion and the providing for display occur prior to controlling the vehicle in the autonomous driving mode using the first route.
