1. A personal care composition, comprising:

a complex comprising a cationic antibacterial agent comprising cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and a metal salt comprising zinc chloride, wherein the complex has a structural formula of [(C₂₁H₃₈N)₂][ZnCl₄];

a surfactant; and

a cosmetically acceptable carrier;

wherein the personal care composition is in a form selected from: a bar soap, a liquid hand soap, a shower gel, a body wash, a shampoo, a facial cleanser, a cream, an antiperspirant, and a deodorant.
