1. A separator for removing contamination from a fluid of a heat pump comprising:
a housing having a hollow interior;
at least a first baffle and a second baffle arranged within the hollow interior of the housing to form a plurality of fluidly distinct zones spaced along a longitudinal axis of the housing including at least a first zone, a second zone, and a third zone, wherein an inlet is formed in the first zone, a first outlet is formed in the second zone, and a second outlet is formed at the third zone, the first baffle having a plurality of openings formed therein to fluidly couple the first zone and the second zone;
a separation component mounted within only a portion of the plurality of zones of the hollow interior; and
at least one turbulence-generating element positioned within the second zone of the hollow interior adjacent the separation component, the at least one turbulence-generating element being mounted to an interior surface of the housing.
