1. A catalyst for producing an olefin by direct dehydrogenation, the catalyst comprising: a support comprising alumina and an auxiliary support component; and a main catalyst comprising an active metal oxide supported on the support; and the catalyst comprising 0.01 wt % or more and less than 1 wt % of a co-catalyst comprising an oxide of an alkali metal and a Group 6B transition metal,
wherein the catalyst is configured to produce an olefin by direct dehydrogenation
wherein the alkali metal is sodium, and
wherein the Group 6B transition metal is tungsten.
