1. A device comprising:
a first modulator;
a second modulator; and
a controller configured to
receive input image data comprising a plurality of image formats;
determine whether the input image data comprises Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI)-compliant image data;
determine whether the input image data comprises Enhanced Dynamic Range (EDR) image data;
processing the EDR image data in response to determining that the input image data comprises the EDR image data;
set a luminance of the first modulator as a function of a ratio of a DCI maximum luminance to a maximum luminance of an EDR projector system in response to processing the EDR image data and determining that the input image data comprises the DCI image data;
perform dynamic range processing on the DCI image data by creating a blurred halftone image on the first modulator; and
render the DCI image data that is processed from the first modulator on the second modulator.
