1. A method of operating a 360-degree video client device, the method comprising:
tracking a series of viewing directions of a user, each viewing direction corresponding to one of a plurality of respective viewport representations of a viewport-adaptive 360-degree video;
adaptively requesting the viewport representations corresponding to the tracked viewing directions;
receiving and displaying the requested viewport representations to the user; and
sending, to a metrics server, a viewport request report, wherein the viewport request report identifies a most-viewed viewport for at least one time interval.
