1. A method comprising:
receiving, at a processor of a computing system, a request to perform an operation, the operation accessing a component of the computing system;
transmitting, by the processor, a nonce to a memory device communicatively coupled to the processor over a memory bus;
receiving, by the processor, a second nonce from the memory device over the memory bus, the second nonce encrypted using a first public key stored by the memory device;
verifying, by the processor, the second nonce by decrypting the encrypted second nonce using a stored public key equal to the first public key; and
executing, by the processor, the operation upon successfully verifying the second nonce.
