An electrode, comprising a polymer film and a substrate, wherein: the polymer film comprises poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) (PEDOT); the polymer film comprises a plurality of crystallites in an edge-on orientation; the polymer film has a thickness of 5 nm to 600 nm; and the substrate is porous and carbonaceous.
