1. A sintered polycrystalline ceramic body comprising ZnS in a polymorphic form having a cubic structure and having the transmittance of at least 50% in a wavelength range of 0.7-12 μm for a 6 mm thickness, and a Vickers hardness of ≥180 kg/mm2.
