1. A surgical instrument comprising:
a handle assembly;
a shaft coupled to a distal end of the handle assembly;
an end effector coupled to a distal end of the shaft, the end effector comprising:
a first jaw;
a second jaw, wherein the first jaw and the second jaw cooperate to capture tissue there between;
a stapling member configured to fire one or more staples between the first and second jaws;
an attachable sleeve configured to be slidably attached to and decoupled from the first jaw, the attachable sleeve comprising at least one electrode configured to transmit electrosurgical energy to coagulate tissue upon wiping the end effector against the tissue, wherein the at least one electrode comprises a first electrode positioned on a first lateral side of the attachable sleeve and extending longitudinally from a proximal end of the first lateral side to a distal end of the first lateral side; and
wherein the first electrode comprises a first edge that is positioned perpendicular to a surface of the first jaw that faces the second jaw when the attachable sleeve is slidably coupled to the first jaw, the first edge coupled directly to the attachable sleeve, and a second edge connected to the first edge, but not directly coupled to the attachable sleeve, and at least partially hanging under the surface of the first jaw that faces the second jaw.
