1. A method of improving a plant's, or plant cell's, resistance to black spot disease caused by Alternaria alternata, comprising:
(a) introducing into the genome of a plant, or a plant cell, a polynucleotide molecule comprising the nucleic acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 1,
(b) overexpressing the nucleic acid sequence within the plant or plant cell, and
(c) selecting a plant or plant cell from (b) for having improved resistance to blackspot disease caused by Alternaria alternata as compared to that of a plant, or a plant cell, within which the nucleic acid sequence is not overexpressed.
