1. A rotor for an internal rotor EC motor comprising:
a. a central hub connected to an axis for rotation;
b. outwardly extending silicon steel laminates positioned around the circumference of the rotor and spaced circumferentially around the rotor with gaps between adjacent silicon steel laminates;
c. first permanent magnets interposed in the gaps between the silicone steel laminates; and
d. second permanent magnets aligned radially with the silicon steel laminates and positioned between the steel laminates and the central hub of the rotor,
wherein the first permanent magnets are rectangular in shape with a rectangular area in a plane perpendicular to the axis and wherein the second permanent magnets are wedge-shaped with a radius.
