1. A method of treating tuberculosis in a patient, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound having the formula I:
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, ester, stereoisomer, or solvate thereof, wherein: one or more R1 groups is attached to the phenyl ring, wherein each R1 is independently selected from the group consisting of trihalomethyl, methoxy, NO2, and a halogen.
