1. A print element substrate comprising:
a plurality of functional elements;
a heat enable generation circuit configured to generate a first signal and a second signal individually;
a plurality of driving elements configured to drive the plurality of functional elements based upon one of the first signal and the second signal;
a shift register configured to store functional data indicating whether or not to drive the functional element;
a data analyzing unit configured to analyze the functional data input into the shift register; and
a drive signal selection unit configured to select one of the first signal and the second signal in response to an analysis result from the data analyzing unit, and to supply the selected signal to the driving element,
wherein the first signal is supplied to one of two adjacent functional elements which are to be driven among the plurality of functional elements, and the second signal is supplied to the other of the two adjacent functional elements, such that the number of the functional elements to be driven by the first signal and the number of the functional elements to be driven by the second signal become equal.
